Loudoun Youth Inc.

Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition

Encourages middle and high school youth, across the county to identify an issue in their school, neighborhood or community, create a plan to address that issue, and implement the plan. The goal is to encourage, support and reward the youth of Loudoun County for making positive changes in their own lives and the lives of others. This annual competition runs from early fall through late spring.

Step Up Allows You To:

  • Identify and address issues around you that you believe could be better
  • Develop crucial critical thinking, presentation and communication skills
  • Learn planning and execution skills needed to affect community change
  • Demonstrate community leadership 
  • Interact with judges that can include corporate leaders,  government officials and members of the media

How the Program Works

  • Introductory Session to explain Step Up
  • Identify a team, register, and start building your entry in October
  • Attend orientation and information sessions
  • Entries are due mid-December
  • Final entries due in early spring
  • Competition includes two rounds of judging in early spring
  • Competition Round 1 Judging narrows to top 10 entries
  • Concludes with Top 10 Finals and Awards night
  • Cash prizes are awarded to winners of the final competition
