| Mission and Purpose
Loudoun Youth Inc, organized to assist in the charitable
and educational support of the Loudoun Youth Initiative,
is a consortium made up of private sector representatives
from Loudoun County who are committed to coordinating and
supporting Loudoun County's substantial resources to address
the diverse needs of Loudoun County youth.
Loudoun Youth Inc is organized to:
- Solicit funds from the community, government organizations
and foundations;
- Provide coordination of private donations and grants
solicited on behalf of Loudoun County youth;
- Provide financial resources to youth serving agencies
in Loudoun County;
- Create a private/public partnership with the Loudoun
County Government, through the Office of the Loudoun Youth
Initiative Director;
- Assist and support in the development of teen centers
in Loudoun County;
- Assist and support prevention programs that support Loudoun
County's youth population.
The Loudoun Youth Initiative – A
History
Task Force created in 2004 to perform outreach to youngest
county citizens.
Listening to Youth takes place during August and September
2004.
Step Up Loudoun held for very first time in November 2004. Hosted
by AOL at the Lansdowne Resort, this event draws more than
500 youth and community members.
Loudoun Youth Inc., the non-profit, founded in April 2005
in response to community and business interest in making
donations to the Loudoun Youth Initiative.
Youth Advisory Council and Youth Membership Network created
in 2005.
Second Annual Step Up event takes place in November 2005.
First Youth Fest held in May of 2006 at Ida Lee Park in
Leesburg.
Loudoun Youth Inc. receives $100,000 from Broadlands Regional
Medical Center for support of middle school after school
programs.
Third Annual Step Up event takes place in November 2006
on the campus of AOL in Dulles, Virginia.
Performances of teen-written and teen-acted play “Normal” performed
around the county from February through April 2007
Second Youth Fest held in May of 2007 on the grounds of
the Belmont Country Club in Ashburn.
Loudoun Youth Inc. announces receipt of $200,000 grant from
the U.S. Dept. of Justice with matching funds from the Commonwealth
of Virginia of $25,000 for gang prevention efforts.
Fourth Annual Step Up event takes place in November 2007
at the Fox Cinemas in Brambleton, Virginia.
Loudoun Youth Inc. receives Tania English Memorial donations
beginning in fall 2007.
Loudoun Youth Inc. announces $1,000 youth leadership scholarship
award.
