All winning bids support Loudoun Youth Inc., a non-profit organization that coordinates community resources to assist in the development of youth programs and create leadership opportunities for youth

YAC’s Jesseca Hoff honored as Loudoun County Youth Volunteer of the Year

Congratulations Jesseca on being named the Loudoun County Outstanding Youth Volunteer of the Year! Jesseca, a senior at Woodgrove High School, has participated in numerous events and programs with Loudoun Youth over the years. She is a member of the Youth Advisory Council (YAC).  She has served on the YAC Board of Governors, as Chair of the Community Service Committee and volunteered at Youth Fest, Battle of the Bands, Loudoun Holiday Coalition, Rock the Runway, Sterling Haunted House and Sugar Plum Gala, just to name a few!

A member of the inaugural Leadership Loudoun Youth class in 2010, Jesseca became an integral member of the planning for LLY 2011, serving as an intern.

Hoff has served as a PEER at Woodgrove HS and is part of the Woodgrove Green Team.  She has also been the Teen Reading Buddies Coordinator at Purcellville Library and served in leadership roles with the Purcellville Teen Advisory Group.  With a passion for giving back, Jesseca also participated in projects including Teens Opposing Poverty, taking monthly trips to D.C. to deliver clothing, food and supplies to communities in need.

Jesseca plans to attend the University of South Carolina this fall.  We wish her the best and will miss her greatly!

Loudoun Youth Receives Community Foundation for Northern Virginia Grant

Loudoun Youth has received a $4,000 Future Fund Grant from the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia.

The Future Fund is a giving circle of more than 100 young professionals at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia. The Future Fund members connect with one another personally and professionally, learn about critical needs of our region, and donate to philanthropic causes they care about most. It’s a unique and exciting opportunity to pool contributions to benefit the community where we live and/or work!

Now Accepting Applications for Leadership Loudoun Youth Class of 2012

Applications are now available for the Leadership Loudoun Youth summer program.

Two one-week programs are available. Session one will be held from July 16-20 and session two will take place August 6-10.  Each session is limited to 25 participants. For program details and applications, visit www.leadershiploudounyouth.org.

$3700 Awarded to Loudoun County Teens Making A Difference

Being a part of this year’s action made all Step Up Loudoun entrants winners!

The 10 finalist teams each earned $100 for their projects. Program partner Forward Turn, a teen philanthropy group of the Piedmont Community Foundation, awarded 1^st place winner GRL PWR $1000.  Second and third places winners took home $500 and two teams were awarded $500 grants.

This year’s 1st place team, GRL PWR, Freedom High School seniors Bria Toussaint and Royal Phillips, exemplified the level of engagement seen over the past two years of the Step Up program’s ‘call to action’ format. To learn more about their project, visit  www.grl-pwr.com.

Youth Advisory Council members traveled to Richmond to meet with legislators. Thank you to our partners at Virginia Regional Transit/Virginia Rides. This annual trip is made possible by joint fundraising efforts. Thank you to VRT for all you do for our young people!
