TEEING IT UP FOR THE YOUTH
Loudoun Youth event a great success for region’s youth programs
Leesburg, VA, Tuesday, May 19, 2009 – In their ongoing efforts to serve the youth of Loudoun County to the fullest extent possible, Loudoun Youth (LY) held its 2nd Annual Golf Invitational hosted once more at the area’s premier golf facility Creighton Farms. The golf event has brought is nearly $300,000 in its two years, giving LY a phenomenal base from which to move forward in serving the youth of Loudoun County.
“Foremost, Loudoun Youth wants to thank the almost fifty golfers who joined us today to make this event as special and successful as it has become,” said Carol Kost, LY’s President. “The money we raise through this event is the life-line of funding for youth activities ranging from sports to leadership development to the arts in Loudoun County and we are thrilled to be at the forefront of serving Loudoun’s youth.”
While the golf event is the money-raising mechanism, LY will be holding a grant announcement event in June or July as they have received grant applications from organizations all across the County. In 2008, LY gave grants from money raised through the golf event to such organizations as Dulles South Youth Sports, the Piedmont Arts Foundation and Youth Financial Literacy through the Reality Store.
“It is humbling to be a part of day like today,” concluded Kost. “When you see people coming together in tough economic times to continue to serve and support their community and the future of our great County, it is very fulfilling. Great events like today ensure that LY will continue serve our County’s youth in meaningful ways. ”
